About Tivronex
We started Tivronex because we kept meeting older adults who felt left behind by a digital world that assumed too much and explained too little. We wanted to do something about that.
How Tivronex Came to Be
Tivronex was founded in Vernon, British Columbia, by a small group of educators and community workers who shared a concern: that the shift toward digital-first services was happening faster than many older adults could comfortably navigate — and that the available support rarely reflected the actual experience of learning something new later in life.
We weren't trying to build a tech company. We were trying to create a learning environment that felt more like a patient conversation than an online tutorial. Something that respected where people were starting from, rather than where a curriculum expected them to be.
We built our first programs by listening — to adults in their sixties, seventies, and eighties who described the same feelings again and again: frustration, embarrassment, and a quiet worry that they were "too old" for this. They weren't. They just needed a different approach.
That's what we set out to provide, and it remains the foundation of everything we do.
Our Values
Dignity
Every learner deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their current skill level. We never talk down, rush, or minimize frustration. Learning something new at any age takes courage.
Honesty
We are clear about what our programs are and what they are not. We do not make promises we cannot keep, and we do not use language designed to create unrealistic expectations.
Patience
There is no standard pace for learning, and there is no deadline for becoming comfortable with technology. We build programs that allow people to move at a speed that works for them.
Our Learners
Our programs are designed for adults aged 55 and older who are at some stage of becoming more comfortable with digital technology. Some participants have never owned a smartphone. Others use one daily but feel anxious whenever something unexpected happens on screen. Others have been managing fine but want to understand online tools more deeply, particularly around safety and professional platforms.
What our learners have in common is not their skill level — it's a desire to understand, on their own terms, with proper support.
We also frequently work with family members who are helping an older relative get started. If you're reading this on behalf of a parent or grandparent, we're glad you're here too. We can help you understand what to look for and how to support the learning process without doing it for them.
Based in Vernon, British Columbia
We are a local organization with national reach through online delivery. Our physical presence is in the Okanagan region of BC, and our programs are accessible to adults across Canada.
If you'd like to have a conversation before committing to anything, please reach out. We'd rather spend twenty minutes talking with you than have you sign up for something that doesn't match what you need.
